Solutions Marine Consultants Pte Ltd (Singapore SMC) was established in 2012 by a group of professionals and experienced maritime specialist with decades of experiences to create a leading independent high quality marine industry surveys and marine engineering consultancy for the maritime industry.
SMC is strategically located in the cosmopolitan city of Singapore, an International Maritime Centre (IMC), which position itself undoubtedly as a global maritime hub. Independently, SMC also has an extensive and integrated global network of representations and regional offices which were strategically located in the various regions of the world.
Solutions Marine Consultants Ltd (China) was established in 2007 and strategically located at one of the major marine hub of P.R. China, Shanghai to provide independent, quality marine consultancy and survey services to both the shipping and offshore industries in P.R. China.
The company is staffs with qualified and experienced master Mariners and Marine Engineers from Singapore and P.R. China. With such combination, we have the diverse technical skills, practical knowledge and P.R. China local knowledge that allow us to provide the range of services to our clients. In association with China Adjusters, we produce casualty investigation reports (written in Chinese) for admission in China Court.

MSC, Hapag-Lloyd introduce more solo services ahead of alliance changes
MSC and Hapag-Lloyd have begun building up their capacity as both carriers prepare to leave their respective current alliances, according to Alphaliner’s report.
MSC, which will split from its 2M partner Maersk, has been launching standalone loops on the Asia – North America and Far East – Europe routes.
After launching two additional standalone services in July, MSC’s non-2M fleet capacity on the big Asia – North America and Far East – Europe routes now stands at 733,000 TEUs, which represents 33.2% of its total capacity on the trades.

Singapore oil spill: Insurance claims capped at under US$6 million
The insurer for the bunker tanker involved in the oil spill in Singapore has a limit of S$8 million (US$5.9 million) for the resulting claims.
This was disclosed by Singapore’s Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat at a joint ministerial press conference on 24 June.
Some oil slicks floated into neighbouring Malaysia and its government said that affected fishermen should file claims with the insurer, British Marine. Malaysian media estimated that as many as 200 fishermen in Johor state, the nearest Malaysian state to Singapore, were unable to fish or had their equipment damaged by the oil.

The authorities here are expanding clean-up efforts to more areas following a major oil spill on June 14, with some oil leaking from a damaged cargo tank a a Pasir Panjang Terminal having spread to waters off Changi on June 17. Read more on The Straits Times.
